Washington:
The United States reiterated its stance on Friday that allegations that Israel has committed genocide in Gaza are “baseless”, after the UN’s top court ruled that Israel should do more to prevent civilian deaths.
After the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to do everything possible, a U.S. State Department spokesperson said, “We believe that the allegations of genocide are unfounded and note that the Court has made no findings of fact or reference to genocide in its judgment. There has been no call for a ceasefire.” “Prohibit the commission of all acts within the scope” of the Genocide Convention.
