In an important political development in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, 8 October (IANS), Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Akhilesh Yadav is ready to meet Old Warhors Azam Khan on Wednesday, many people saw the party’s stalwart as an attempt to end ‘differences and mistrust’.

The meeting between the pair will be closely viewed not only by SP workers but also by political analysts, as it is expected to have more impact for the party in strengthening its Muslim vote bank, as the latter is one of the largest Muslim faces of the party and has a strong impact in western Uttar Pradesh regions, which is in Mordabad, AMaroha, and other countries.

SP’s Bareilly President Shivcharan Kashyap said that Akhilesh Yadav will reach Bareilly from Amasi Airport and from there, he will travel to Rampur by road.

He informed that the two leaders will privately meet and discuss issues.

The proposed meeting between the two is amid rumors of Azam Khan, once one of the most powerful ministers in the SP government, a switch for BSP was considered.

Azam Khan, one of Uttar Pradesh’s highest SP leaders, was jailed for nearly two years, and left him ‘disillusioned and displaced’ with the SP leadership, as later failed to show solidarity with him during his difficult times.

After releasing from Sitapur Jail on 23 September, Azam Khan also said that he would only meet Akhilesh Yadav and no one else.

“Akhilesh Yadav will meet me, and I will only meet him,” he said, responding to reporters, when inquired about meeting the SP supremo.

He also sarcastically said, “It is his grandeur that he is coming to meet a goat thief and a buffalo thief.”

Azam Khan’s rumors who join the BSP have been roaming in political circles for a long time. However, he rubbed all these speculation, called himself a true soldier of the party.

Azam Khan was one of the founding members of the Samajwadi Party and was one of the closest colleagues of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav. The meeting with Akhilesh Yadav is not only an attempt to re -awaken the old relationships, but also to convey the message of unity within the party.
