New Delhi, Nov 13 (IANS) The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) on Thursday suspended the membership of Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad with immediate effect.
The action, taken through an official letter dated November 13, 2025, follows a thorough scrutiny of the institution amid the terror investigation into the deadly Red Fort car blast in Delhi on November 10.
Citing its bylaws, the AIU said the decision was based on “media reports” indicating that the university “does not appear to be in good standing”.
The university came into national limelight after it was revealed that the key suspect in the November 10 blasts, Dr. Umar Un Nabi, along with other accused Dr. Muzammil Ganai and Dr. Shaheen Saeed, were associated with the college.
As a result of the suspension, Al-Falah University is now banned from using the AIU name or logo in any of its activities and has been directed to immediately remove the logo from its official website.
“Further, it is informed that Al-Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, is not authorized to use the name or logo of AIU in any of its activities, and the AIU logo should be immediately removed from the official website of the university,” the letter said.
Earlier in the day, the Bengaluru-based National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) had issued a show cause notice to Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology, Fatehpur, for falsely claiming and propagating that the colleges run by the university are NAAC-accredited.
Al-Falah University, a private institution located on Raga Road, District Faridabad, Dhauj, about 27 km from the Haryana-Delhi border, has been in the national spotlight over the past few days due to shocking developments, including the recovery of large-scale explosives and a blast near the iconic Red Fort in Delhi that left 12 dead, dozens injured and shocked the nation.
