Air India to suspend services to Washington, DC from 1 September

Air India on Monday announced the suspension of its services between Delhi and Washington DC effective from 1 September due to a combination of operating factors to ensure the reliability and integrity of the airline’s overall route network.

The suspension is mainly inspired by an Air India fleet lacked reduction, as the airline began retrofitting on 26 of its Boeing 787–8 aircraft last month. This broad retrofit program, which aims to enhance customer experience significantly, requires a prolonged unavailability of multiple aircraft at any time by at least 2026.

The aircraft affects the long -lasting operation of the airline, with the continuous closure of the aircraft, which leads to an increase in flight routing and operating complexity.

Beyond September 1, 2025, Washington, DC will be contacted by Customers with Air India booking and as per their personal preferences, alternative travel arrangements including rituals on other flights or full refunds will be offered.

Air India customers will continue to travel with their boges with their boges, the four American Gateway-Nuyorck (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago and San Francisco.

Air India will continue to operate non-stop flights between six destinations in India and North America, including Toronto and Vancouver in Canada. (AI)
