New Delhi, Nov 5 (IANS) Air India on Wednesday alerted its passengers that ‘departure of some of the airline’s flights will be delayed due to third-party connectivity network issue affecting check-in system at some airports.’
The Tata group airline said the system has now been “restored”. However, some Air India flights may continue to be delayed for some time as the situation gradually returns to normal, according to a statement.
“Passengers flying with us today can check their flight status at https://airindia.com/in/en/manage/flight-status.html before reaching the airport and allow extra time for their journey,” the Air India statement said.
Meanwhile, Air India on Tuesday had said it was operating a relief flight to transport passengers of the San Francisco-Delhi flight, which was diverted to Mongolia due to a suspected technical problem.
On November 2, Air India flight AI174 from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata had to make a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar after it suspected a technical problem en route.
The airline further said that along with local authorities and the Indian Embassy in Mongolia, it is taking care of the passengers and crew, including providing them hotel accommodation.
An Air India spokesperson said, “The guests have been informed about the arrangements being made to transport them to Delhi. At Air India, the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is the top priority.”
The airline had earlier said in a statement that the plane landed safely in Ulaanbaatar and was undergoing necessary checks.
Meanwhile, Air India has been granted a temporary extension of flight duty time for two-pilot Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft flying on European routes, which has become longer due to the closure of Pakistani airspace, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said last week.
According to the civil aviation regulator, the extension was based on specific operational reasons related to long-haul operations of aircraft on European routes following the closure of Pakistan’s airspace.
For two-pilot Boeing 787 operations, the flight duty time limit (FDTL) has been increased from 10 hours to 10 hours and 30 minutes, and the flight duty period (FDP) has been increased from 13 to 14 hours.
