Officials said passengers of Air India Flight AI 504 were scheduled to fly from Kochi to Delhi in the early hours of Monday, due to a technical issue, the aircraft faced the delay after abolishing the takeoff and returning to the Gulf, the officials said.
According to Cochin International Airport Limited (Cial), the revised time of departure was 1:00 pm on Monday.
“An Air India flight to Delhi was forced to cancel the takeoff due to a technical issue. Air India is fixing it and informed the Nchen International International Airport Limited (Cial) that they are changing the aircraft. The new departure is the new time of departure. The new time is 0100 pm”, a Sial Pro said in a statement.
The incident came to light after Congress MP Hibi Eden, who was in flight, was posted on social media that the aircraft was skid on the runway.
“This flight is something unusual with AI 504 … it just felt like a flight skid on the runway … and hasn’t taken it yet …” he wrote in a Facebook post.
Rajya Sabha MP JB Matheher, also on board, said the pilot later announced that the aircraft could not be used for travel.
“Pilot now announced … This aircraft cannot be used for travel. Therefore, passengers will be transferred to another aircraft and by around 1 pm,” Matheher said.
