Kurnool, Oct 16 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday visited the famous Srisailam temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district and said he prayed for the well-being of all Indians.
“Prayed at Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varala Devasthanam in Srisailam. Prayed for the well being and good health of my fellow Indians. May everyone be happy and prosperous,” the Prime Minister posted on Instagram.
He Chief Minister N. Shared pictures of his visit to the temple with Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
The Prime Minister, who is on a one-day visit to the state, visited Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swami Varala Devasthanam, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and one of the 52 Shakti Peethas.
The temple priests and officials welcomed PM Modi, CM Naidu and Deputy CM at the main gate of the temple. He participated in various rituals in the temple.
Priests and officials pointed out the unique features of the temple, which is known for the co-existence of a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peetha in the same complex.
PM Modi reached the temple for the first time. He is the fourth Prime Minister to visit this temple. Earlier, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao had worshiped in this temple.
PM Modi also visited the Shri Shivaji Sphoorti Kendra, a memorial complex that houses a ‘Dhyan Mandir’ (meditation room) with models of the four iconic forts – Pratapgarh, Rajgarh, Raigarh and Shivneri – located at the four corners.
He walked around the complex, where there is a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in deep meditation. Leaders of the Shri Shivaji Smarak Samiti, which runs the centre, told him about the importance of the place and its features.
The center was established at Srisailam in 1677 to commemorate the historic visit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the holy temple.
Earlier, upon arrival at Kurnool airport, the Prime Minister was met by Governor S. Abdul Nazir, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh welcomed him.
From Kurnool the Prime Minister reached Sundipanta Helipad and from there reached Bramrambha Mallakarjuna Swamy Temple by road.
After prayers at the temple he visited Sri Shivaji Sphoorthi Kendram.
The Prime Minister later left for Sundipanta helipad by road and from there he will fly to Kurnool helipad.
He will address the Super GST Super Saving public meeting at Raga Mayuri Green Hills in Nannuru village.
This public meeting is part of the state government’s public awareness campaign on the latest GST reforms. It aims to highlight the initiatives of the Central and State Governments in promoting fiscal prudence and efficiency with the latest next generation GST reforms.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of several development projects worth about Rs 13,430 crore and dedicate to the nation.
These projects span sectors such as industry, power transmission, roads, railways, defense manufacturing and petroleum and natural gas.
This is PM Modi’s fifth visit to Andhra Pradesh after the TDP-led NDA came to power in the state last year.
