After Uttarakhand, UCC may soon be launched in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan

this Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill has been tabled in Uttarakhand Assembly This on Tuesday paved the way for the state to become the first in India to set up the project after Goa, which has been functioning since Portuguese rule. After Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh also seem keen on introducing UCC as soon as possible.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday said UCC will be introduced in the state in due course.

“I congratulate the BJP government led by Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami for introducing the UCC Bill in the state assembly,” Maurya said, hinting that the bill will be introduced in Uttarakhand soon.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Minister Kanhaiya Lal Choudhary also said that they are working hard to ensure that Rajasthan becomes a state after Uttarakhand to implement the UCC Act.

“First of all, I would like to thank Uttarakhand CM Dhami. This is an important matter and the people of India are waiting for this outcome. He initiated this bill. We are working hard to ensure that Rajasthan becomes the successor to Uttarakhand States after UT (Implementation of UCC Bill)… CM supports this. He has given instructions on this and the work will be completed soon. BJP MLA Gopal Sharma also supported bringing UCC to Rajasthan.

“We also want the same thing that Uttarakhand wants. It starts with ‘Devabhoomi’. Rajasthan is the land of braves and we also support the Uniform Civil Code… We welcome it and hope It can be implemented in Rajasthan as soon as possible…” Sharma said.

Uttarakhand assembly considers UCC bill

The UCC Bill proposes a common law on marriage, divorce, land, property and inheritance applicable to all citizens irrespective of their religious affiliation in the state, except Scheduled Tribes.

“To give equal rights to the citizens of Uttarakhand, the Uniform Civil Code Bill will be introduced in Parliament today. This is a proud moment for all the people of the state as we will be the first in the country to implement the UCC State. Jai Hind, Jai Uttarakhand,” Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a post on X.

The Uttarakhand government has convened a four-day special session of the Assembly on Monday to discuss the legislation.
