Superintendent of Bradford District Police, Lucy Leadbuter said: “Many inquiries are going on in this serious incident today.
“While the cause of the explosion in this vacant property is under investigation, we are investigating reports of a metal theft just before the incident.
“A person arrested on suspicion of being involved in theft was seriously injured, and we are trying to locate another man, which we can name as Jacob Ryan regarding the crime of theft.
“It is possible that Jacob is also injured, and we urge him or whoever knows to come forward. It is important that we make sure that he has access to any medical treatment.”
Police said a police scene was kept, and the affected property was made safe with the help of utility companies.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said that it sent a response to the incident at 10:08 pm on Saturday night and said at that time, “Domestic property, without any fire, reported the explosion of the house with any fire, injured in care of paramedics to take care of 2 casualties, for further casualties, technical defense and rescue search and rescue dogs are unknown.”
