Bengaluru: BJP Karnataka President and MLA BY Vijayendra has said that there is a plan to form two coordination committees between the party and JDS. He said that these will be announced soon after discussion with party leaders.
Vijayendra on Tuesday met Union Minister and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to extend Diwali wishes.
Later speaking to the media he said that they discussed the current political situation in the state. He said Kumaraswamy will send the names to the committee within the next 8-10 days.
“I have sought suggestions regarding the BJP-JD(S) coordination committee. Since the Greater Bengaluru elections are approaching, Kumaraswamy has proposed forming a committee limited to Bengaluru and another for the rest of the state,” he said.
He criticized the administration of the Congress-led state government, saying that the situation in Bengaluru and the rest of the state has worsened and people are cursing the lack of development. “All you are seeing is the chaos in Bengaluru city,” he commented.
He further alleged that the state ministers are arrogant.
Vijayendra said, “When IT industry leaders like Mohandas Pai and Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw make suggestions about Bengaluru and its roads, ministers ignore them and even make fun of such respected persons. This does not add dignity to the government.”
He reminded that during Yediyurappa’s tenure as Chief Minister, when similar criticism and suggestions were received, he had invited Mohandas Pai to his home for tea and had taken his suggestions positively.
Drawing attention towards the Valmiki Vikas Nigam scam, he asked whether the ruling leaders had forgotten about it. “People are wondering whether a Tughlaq-style government is running here,” he said.
He referred to the statement of BJP MP BY Raghavendra, in which he had said that the funds collected in Karnataka were taken to Bihar for the elections. “Let ministers testify – why are Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar silent on Valmiki scam?”. He asked question.
He alleged that in the scam, money was transferred to Telangana, thousands of benami (fake) accounts were opened, gold was purchased and the money was used during the Lok Sabha elections. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) itself has confirmed this, he claimed.
Vijayendra also told that the contractors association has written a letter alleging that 60-70 percent commission is being demanded in the major irrigation departments. “DK Shivakumar asks him to file official complaint – when there is already a written letter, what more proof do you need?”. he asked.
Even the Chief Minister’s own economic advisor Basavaraj Rayareddy has written a letter saying that the sand mafia continues to operate and is causing a loss of Rs 400-500 crore to the Karnataka government. “What more evidence is needed for corruption in the state?” he asked.
He alleged that illegal gambling rackets like ‘Ispit’ and ‘Matka’ were running in many districts including Shivamogga with the support of police officials and ruling party MLAs.
He warned, “Many people are being driven to suicide because of these illegal activities. When Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar travel to other states, they beat their drum and claim that Karnataka’s guarantee is a model for the country. But your guarantee is not a role model – stop making false claims. People are watching the looting of the state.”
Responding to a question about Chittapur, he said, “I don’t know why Minister Priyank Kharge is behaving so irrationally. It is unnecessary to criticize the RSS like this. Is it just a publicity stunt or a strategy to grab the chief minister’s chair?” He asked question.
He said that according to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s own statement, Priyank seems isolated in this matter. “They are trying to hide the failures of the ruling party by creating such distraction. The path sanchalan (route march) in Chittapur will happen successfully on November 2. There is no confusion about it,” he assured.
Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalvadi Narayanaswamy, MLA Krishnappa, BJP Bengaluru South District President and MLA CK Ramamurthy and former MLA A Manjunath were also present on the occasion.
