In view of the devastating stampede at the TVK rally in Karur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, IANS, which claimed that 41 people lost their lives and injured over 100 on September 27, are preparing to overhale the party president and actor Vijay organization and tightening the incident.
According to the party’s internal sources, Vijay is working on a comprehensive restructuring plan, creating a dedicated volunteer force and nourishing a new level of leading a second line to strengthen the party before the 2026 assembly elections.
The tragedy described by eyewitnesses as a result of “gross mismanagement” and poor mob control has shook the TV leadership deeply.
The rally venue, which could accommodate only 2,000–3,000 people, gathered around 30,000 supporters, and broke the chaos when Vijay climbed his campaign vehicle to congratulate the crowd.
The stampede highlighted laps shining in the security protocol and left the party to face both public outrage and legal investigation. Learning from disaster, Vijay is now planning to establish a special volunteer force similar to those created by major Dravidian parties such as DMK, AIADMK, MDMK and DMDK.
These trained cadre will handle the rush regulation, safety and emergency response at TVK events in Tamil Nadu, which will cause no repetition of the Karur accident. Training sessions and workshops are expected to be declared soon for this force.
At the same time, TVK is struggling with a leadership vacuum. Several top office-bearers, including General Secretary Busi Anand and Election Division Management Secretary Aadhar Arjun, have stepped back from active roles among legal challenges after a stampede.
To fill this void, Vijay is personally shortening other big leaders-with prior political experience in many other parties-will soon be unveiled as the new backbone of the party.
Once announced, these leaders will visit the state, build local organizational power, guide the cadres, and look after the election preparations.
Party sources say that after the rollout of this new leadership list, statewide training programs will be officially launched by volunteers. The victory is firm to restore confidence among supporters and to establish TVK as a disciplined and war-fetched political organization, addressing security concerns emerged from the Karur tragedy.
