A train has hit a van, which allegedly burst into flames at a level crossing in Kent.

The British Transport Police is responding to the incident from Lower Road in Teenham this afternoon.

South East Managing Director Steve White confirmed that a train had hit the vehicle at a level crossing.

He posted on X: ” @Se_railway After a van -hit train at a level crossing is closed near Teynham.

“Replacement buses are working between Gillingham and Fevershham and Shireness and CittingBorn. We are working with emergency services.”

The report on social media, which claims that the train was a high-speed London-bound service, shows a vehicle in flames as the police is away from the road.
