A primary school teacher has been banned indefinitely, after failing to reveal that he was in a relationship with a convict child sexual criminal.
Lean started working as a one -year teacher in Larak Hill Community Primary in January 2019, and remained there until he discovered a 12 -year relationship in 2021.
During this period, she went to meet her partner Prison And after being convicted of child sexual offenses for the second time in 2018, he maintained contact with him on telephone.
His relationship was revealed after the school was contacted by the Nominated Officer (LADO), who oversees allegations against adults working with children.
She was contacted that Miss Til’s partner was due to her release from jail, and concerns were raised about the nature of her relationship, seeing her access to children.
In a meeting in February 2021, when asked if he was at risk for children, he replied: “Perhaps, if he was in a position with children alone, possibly.”
She also said that she had spoken to her on Christmas for the last time and she was not in contact after breaking up in jail. She confirmed that she was in her friends and family list while she was in custody, and she was on trips with her mother.
Asked if he felt that he had a duty to inform the school that he said: “Perhaps, it should have been the same”. But the couple did not realize that seeing the relationship to end the relationship and stay in jail.
When asked why he felt that the school would be worried, he replied: “If a teacher or a member of the staff was in a relationship with a sexual criminal, there would be a big concern when trying to keep the children safe”.
While Miss Til said that she was given a “pressure” to stay in the relationship, the school was worried that she did not disclose it to the policy.
During his evidence, he said that he felt that “there was a low security risk”, given that he was serving a custodial sentence, and there was no legal need for a teacher to explain whether he lives with a person with a relevant punishment.
After the hearing read in a report: “The panel found that a single failure to disclose concern was not limited, but that the failure remained in a period from 2019 to 2021, suggesting a pattern of behavior instead of an isolated.”
Despite many positive character references, the panel found Miss until he was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct, and found that she had intentionally decided not to inform her relationship school.
It was also found that his actions may have brought the profession into disorder.
As a result, she has now been banned from teaching indefinitely and cannot benefit employment Any school, college, children care at home or youth housing.
