Hyderabad, Nov 14 (IANS) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Friday said that despite the defeat in the Jubilee Hills bypoll, the party will continue to play its role as the main opposition party and will work hard to return to power.

Congress party snatched the Jubilee Hills seat from BRS. Congress candidate Naveen Yadav defeated BRS’s Maganti Sunita by about 25,000 votes.
Earlier, addressing a press conference at BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, he said the party would not be disappointed with the result.
“We will continue to do our work as the main opposition. We will be with the people. We will be for the people. We will be among the people. We will keep fighting until KCR becomes the chief minister again,” he said.
KTR said that for the last two years BRS has been working to highlight the issues of the people and it will continue to play its role as the main opposition party.
He said that although the BRS candidate had no political experience, the party workers worked hard to win the election.
Claiming that the by-election has given a new impetus and strength to BRS, he said the people have a clear mandate that BRS is the only political option.
“Our party fought the elections with honesty and integrity. Everyone saw how the elections were conducted,” he said. He said all surveys had predicted a BRS victory.
The BRS leader reminded that seven by-elections were held from 2014 to 2023 and the then opposition party Congress did not win even a single by-election.
He said BRS worked hard to highlight the failures of the Congress government, the implementation of the six guarantees and the “fraud” being perpetrated by the government on the people.
He said, “We did not do politics in the name of caste and religion. During the campaign, we discussed issues that are important for the people. Although people in power used abusive language, we remained calm.”
KTR said the BRS has shown the progress it has achieved during its 10-year rule. In this, people were informed about the development works done in the constituency at a cost of Rs 5,300 crore.
He claimed that it was because of pressure from BRS that the Chief Minister and the state government had to review the implementation of the guarantee.
He said that the Congress government had to accommodate him only after BRS raised the issue of lack of representation of minorities in the cabinet. He was referring to the inclusion of Mohammad Azharuddin in the cabinet during the election campaign.
