An adorable Labrador-German shepherd mix dog, has achieved a Guinness World Record for having the longest tongue. The canine named Zoey has an impressive tongue that measures an astounding 12.7 cm (5 in) in length. She puts this unique feature to use by showering nearly everyone she encounters with slobbery kisses.
Since she was a puppy, this adorable pooch from Metairie, Louisiana, USA, has been proudly displaying her elongated tongue by frequently sticking it out of her mouth.
Initially, Sadie and Drew Williams, Zoey’s owners, assumed that her tongue would eventually proportionately fit her size.
However, as time passed, people started to comment on the remarkable length of Zoey’s tongue.
Sadie said: “We got Zoey when she was only six weeks old and in the first ever picture we have of her, she has her tongue sticking out.”
According to Drew, Zoey’s tongue is most noticeable after she plays outdoors and pants to cool down.
Drew said: “It would be slobbering all over the place.
“So sometime last year we took her to the vet and measured her tongue.”
Zoey’s tongue was measured from the end of her snout to the end of her tongue.
Zoey’s favourite activities include spending time outdoors, retrieving balls, pursuing squirrels, going on car rides, and enjoying a swim in the canal.
Drew added: “She will pretty much go fetch anything you throw and swim in any body of water that’s available. But she hates getting a bath.”
According to her doting owners, one of the three-year-old pup’s cherished pastimes is proudly displaying her exceptionally long tongue.
Drew shared: “Occasionally, while we’re out walking her, people will approach her and express their desire to pet her.”
Zoey’s remarkable achievement in breaking the world record comes approximately three months after Bisbee, an English terrier residing in Tucson, Arizona, was recognized for holding the previous title, boasting a tongue measuring 9.49 cm (3.74 in).
