Thiruvananthapuram, 3 October (IANS) The ongoing Sabarimala Gold-Platting controversy took a fresh twist with the name of the popular Malayalam actor Jairam, which is in relation to a ritual led by Annikrishnan Poti, one of the major sponsors of Temple’s restoration works.
The 2019 videos recently went viral, showing a puja associated with the project.
“The ceremony was not at my house. It took place in Chennai. I went only because Annikrishnan Poti invited me. I know him but we do not talk on daily basis, but in relation to the Sabarimala temple, we say,” Jayaram said.
The actor further revealed that he had invited experienced artist Veeramani to the event, describing his presence as a case of confidence rather than involving his appearance.
He said, “I considered it a part of this opportunity. I did not know about any money rarying it, nor did I notice such activities.”
The incident associated with Sabarimala’s holy ‘Srikovil Door’ was promoted, attracted to many famous personalities, when the footage re -started the controversy.
“Of course, I would say what I know, if I am called to testify it,” Jairam said.
Incidentally Poti has been called by the Vigilance Wing of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), the agency that runs the affairs of the famous Sabarimala temple.
Poti, which is now in the state capital city, has been asked to appear before TDB-Vigilance on Saturday and is expected to do so.
Meanwhile, the Congress -led UDF has started going to the hammer and tongs and has already demanded a CBI inquiry in the current line.
On Friday, the BJP broke its silence and its experienced leader and former Minister of State, V. Muraliharan said that the Left Government has allowed Sabarimala to be used as a tool for robbery, as seen what has happened by handing over the ‘gold plating works’ to someone.
“We want to know who gave this person the right to hand over parts of the temple. The Pinarayi Vijayan government will have to come clearly on it,” Muraliharan said.
