ACB arrests Lineman to accept bribe in Baramullah

Srinagar, 11 July: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Friday that PDD sub-division Pattan to demand and accept a bribe of Rs 5000 to implicate and arrest a lineman-II of Baramullah.

“The Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Bureau of Corruption (ACB) received a written complaint alleging that Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, Lineman-II (Nominated as Meter Reader Regulas), in Power Development Department (PDD), Sub Division Paton Baramulla demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 for a new housing. Reads

“On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was done through the nominated officer. The verification report confirmed the allegations and accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended) was registered at the police station, ACB Srinagar and investigation was launched,” said ACB, “ACB said.

During the investigation, a trap team was formed, he said that the team laid a successful trap and the accused public servant Manzoor Ahmed Bhat R/O Burran Pattan Baramullah, Lineman-II (nominated as meter reader panzinra) mourning 5 recommendation to Shalteng Srinagar.

He said, “The accused was arrested on the spot by the ACB team after following the appropriate procedure of the law. In the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team, bribe money was also recovered from their possession,” he said that further investigation of the case was going on.
