Jammu and Kashmir Bureau of Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said that Tesilder, Qaziabad, Kupwara were arrested for demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
“A complaint was received from a person by the Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir Anti -Corruption, a resident of Handwara alleged that the Tehsildar, Kaziyabad Kraralgand, Handwara named Handwara. Rasool Bhat has demanded a bribe to permission for the tries ETC of Walnut.”
On receiving the complaint, the ACB spokesman said the matter was verified in a prudent manner, which has revealed that the suspected Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Tehsildar, Kajiabad Kaziabad Kralgand had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant in exchange for two permissions for the Walnut, and he could not do much, and he could not require him. Emphasizing with his demand, he asked the complainant that he would not issue permission until he pays a bribe of Rs 50,000, under the compulsions, the complainant paid him as per the demand of Rs 50,000.
“But when the complainant again approached the Tehsildar for the permissions after payment of the initial bribe amount of Rs 50,000, they demanded a bribe amount of Rs 50,000 before allowing him before allowing him and said that he allows him.”

After the registration of the case, a trap team of ACB caught the accused Tehsildar and his Tout Rafi Ahmed Lone S/O Abdul Khalik Lone R/O Pathora Kralagund Kupwara Lal, while handed over to the private residence of the accused in Handwara, while both were taken into the custod.
The statement said that apart from a bribe of Rs 50,000, cash of Rs 79,000 was also recovered and it was also confiscated by ACB.
“The discoveries are being done in the residential and official premises of the accused Tehsildar, the accused persons were presented before the Honorable Additional Special Judge Corruption Court, Baramulla, which sent them to police custody for 7 days.”
It is worth mentioning here that in the year 2021, ACB registered a case against the said Tehsildar for illegal land mutation. Apart from this, some more verification is going on against him in ACB, the statement states that further investigation is going on and the role of other officers and officers is being ascertained- (KNO)
