Jammu, 03 May: Jammu and Anti -Kashmir Bureau of Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested and arrested Charge Police Post (PP), Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu Murtaza Rahman and his driver to accept and accept a bribe of Rs 13,000.
An ACB spokesperson said that the bureau received a complaint alleging that Sai Murtaza Rahman, in -charge PP GMC Jammu and his driver Spo Himanshu Sharma had demanded illegal satisfaction to run Rehri (mobile kiosk) at the exit gate of GMC Jammu.
ACB spokesperson said, “The accused had demanded illegal satisfaction from the complainant to run the Rehri. Since the complainant did not want to pay the bribe, he contacted the anti -corruption bureau to take legal action against the accused public servant under the law.”
On receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was done, which confirmed the demand for bribe by the concerned public servant and accordingly, a case FIR number 06/2025 U/S7 was registered in the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 61 (2) BNS, 2023 was registered in Police Station ACB Jammu and investigation.
During the investigation, a trap team was formed under the leadership of a gazetted rank officer.
“The team laid a successful trap and the accused public servant Sai Murtaza Rehman and his driver and spo Himanshu Sharma were caught with a red hand admitting a bribe amount of Rs 13,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses.
In the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team, bribe money was also recovered from their possession.
The spokesperson said, “In addition, in the presence of independent witnesses and magistrates, both the accused are being searched in residential houses. Further investigation is underway,” the spokesperson said (KDC)
