ACB arrested Patwari to accept a bribe of Rs 5000

Jammu and Kashmir Anti -Bureau of Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday said that a patwari from Tehsil Mandi district Ponch has been arrested by implicating a patwari from Tehsil Mandi district Ponch to demand a bribe of Rs 5000.

In a statement issued to the news agency- Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesman said that a complaint was received to the Bureau of Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Kashmir corruption in which the complainant required a revenue record i.e. copies of his special land of his land is located in the village Dhara, for which he is already applied through the online mode for 26.04.2025. Jamil was demanding bribe to provide verified copies of the same.

The spokesman said, “Since, the complainant did not want to pay the bribe and contacted the anti -corruption bureau to take legal action against the accused public servants under the law.”

Upon receiving the complaint, a prudent verification was done, which confirms the demand for bribe by the public servant and accordingly, under Section 7 of the Corruption Act, 1988, a case under FIR No. 02/2025 of 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri and was taken into investigation, reads the statement.

“During the investigation, a trap team was formed. The team laid a successful trap and the accused public servant was caught with a red hand demanding a bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses. The accused person was arrested on the spot by the ACB team after the appointed procedure of the law.”

Subsequently, the spokesperson said that a discovery was also made in the accused house in the residential house. Jamil, Patwari is located in Poonch, saying that further investigation of the case is underway- (KNO)
