Aap’s true face, symbol of corruption and loot, exposed: Tarun Chugh

New Delhi, 24 September (IANS) on Wednesday attached assets related to assets worth Rs 7.44 crore on the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on AAM AADMI Party (AAP), which was associated with companies controlled by former Delhi minister and senior AAP leader Satyandar Kumar Jain.

Reacting to the latest action of the ED, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh accused one of the biggest loot operations in the political history of the national capital.

Talking to IANS, Tarun Chugh said, “AAP’s real face, corruption and loot face has been exposed. People who once talked about entering a new political culture are now deep to knee as well as knee in red-carpet corruption.

The Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the ED action under the 2002 prevention, stems from the case of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered in 2017. The CBI accused Jain of collecting property between February 2015 and May 2017 during his tenure as a minister in the Delly government, between February 2015 and May 2017.

In December 2018, a charge sheet was filed against Jain, his wife, Poonam Jain and many others. Earlier in March 2022, the ED attached assets worth Rs 4.81 crore in the same case and filed a prosecution complaint, which was accepted by the Delhi Court. With the latest attachment, the total value of the seized property is now Rs 12.25 crore.

According to the ED, after the demonetisation of 2016, Jain’s close associates Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain deposited cash of Rs 7.44 crore as advance tax under the Income Disproportionate Scheme (IDS). These funds were declared in the name of four companies which were later found to be ownership and controlled of Satyendra Jain.

Both the Income Tax Department and the Delhi High Court concluded that both the associates were benami holders who were working on behalf of Jain. These conclusions were upheld by the Supreme Court, rejecting his appeal.

Subsequently, the ED shared its findings with the CBI, which filed a supplementary charge sheet, increasing the property responsible for Jain.
