In Thane city, AAP intends to field candidates on 100 of the 131 municipal corporation seats and more than 40 applications have already been received from candidates, Thane unit president Amar Amte told PTI.
He said the party would focus its campaign on civic issues, including poor road conditions, inadequate health facilities, water scarcity, sanitation problems and alleged corruption in municipal administration.
According to AAP leaders, the party aims to implement a governance model based on transparency and public welfare, as it had implemented in Delhi and Punjab.
Voting for 29 municipal corporations, including Thane, Bhiwandi-Nizampur and Navi Mumbai, will be held on January 15 and the results will be declared the next day.
