New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) Kashmiri resident Aamir Rashid Ali, accused of conspiring with Dr Omar Muhammad Nabi to carry out the November 10 terror attack near the Red Fort, has reportedly given a sensational account of the blast, saying it was aimed at creating fear among the public and targeting India’s unity and sovereignty, sources said on Monday.

According to sources, NIA detailed in its remand note that Aamir is an associate of Dr. Omar Muhammad Nabi, the main accused in the bomb blast near Lal Qila police post.

Sources said Aamir, 24, a resident of Sambor in Pulwama, had arranged for the vehicle that was used in the blast.

Sources further said that the motive behind the blast was to create panic among civilians and attack the unity and sovereignty of India.

NIA has also mentioned a safe house in the remand note and said that it has information about 20 vehicles and explosives hidden there.

The agency believes that the safe house may contain important evidence related to some big conspiracy.

Explaining the need for custodial interrogation, the NIA said it intends to take him to Kashmir to uncover the wider terrorist network and completely unravel the conspiracy behind the attack.

Earlier in the day, Patiala House Court sent Aamir to 10-day NIA custody.

NIA had asked for his custody for 10 days, which was accepted by the court.

On November 16, the NIA arrested Aamir, in whose name the car used in the attack was registered. He was caught in Delhi during a massive search operation launched by the agency after taking over the case from Delhi Police, an officer said in a statement.

According to the NIA investigation, the accused had conspired with alleged suicide bomber Umar Nabi to carry out the terrorist attack. The agency said Aamir had traveled to Delhi for assistance in procuring a car, which was later used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) to carry out the blast.

The NIA has forensically identified the deceased driver of the vehicle-borne IED as Dr Umar Nabi, a resident of Pulwama district and assistant professor in the department of General Medicine at Al Falah University, Faridabad.

The anti-terrorism agency has also seized another vehicle of Dr. Nabi, which is currently being examined for evidence. So far, the NIA has examined 73 witnesses, including those injured in the blast that rocked the national capital on November 10.

Working closely with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police and several central agencies, the NIA continues its investigations in multiple states. The agency is working on various leads to uncover the larger conspiracy behind the bombings and identify all the persons involved in case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

Earlier, on November 15, the Delhi Police Crime Branch had intensified its investigation into Al Falah University as part of the ongoing investigation into the November 10 Delhi bomb blasts and registered two FIRs against the institute.

According to Delhi Police, the crime branch registered two separate FIRs – one under sections related to fraud and the other under provisions related to forgery.
