When Iced drinks Can be popular As the temperature rises, Food standard agency (FSA) said they could adversely affect young children in its latest warnings for parents, carers and business vendors.

FSA Chairman Professor Susan Jeb warned that in hot weather, children may be more likely to consume glycerol -rich drinks and warned parents and carers to be aware of the risk.
He said: “As a precaution, FSA recommends that children under seven do not consume glyce -rich ice drinks. With our counterparts in Scotland, we will talk to parents and charities of parents to provide updated guidance, which are used and applicable throughout the UK.
“We hope that the industry will share data on the amount of glycerol in its products to inform our future work.
The glycerol in the drink can be as a sugar option to prevent them from getting cold solids. Businesses are advised to add technically glycerol to technically required to achieve the slush effect. Glycerol is found in high properties in these beverages than other foods.
The latest risk evaluation of FSA recently incorporated information from glycerol intoxication events, which assesses the effect of service of a slush ice drink (350 ml with 50,000 mg/L glycerol) on children with minimal bodyweight for their age.
