A murder investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in north-west London

Police have started investigation into the murder A man was shot dead in London last night.

The 55-year-old victim died at the scene on West End Close in Stonebridge, Brent, despite efforts by police and paramedics to save his life.

Officers were called at 9.35pm on Friday, with no arrests made as of Saturday afternoon.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, of the Met’s specialist crime team, said: “There is no doubt that this incident will cause concern in the local community and more widely, but we have increased patrols in the area.

“I want to reassure the public that our investigation remains a priority.”

He said no one else was reported injured and police were assisting the victim’s family.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time,” he said.

DCI John said, “The investigation is well underway and my team is working rapidly to establish the circumstances that led to the tragic death of this man.”

Police closed the A404 Brentfield from Tewbridge Way to Wybourne Way on Saturday. A forensic tent could be seen inside the cordon.

Forensic teams reached the spot with sniffer dogs on Saturday afternoon.

Dawn Butler, Labor MP for Brent East, said she was “very saddened to hear of the shooting in Stonebridge” and urged anyone with information to contact police.

A local businessman said on the condition of anonymity mylondon That he now feels safe working in this field.

Members of the public who may have witnessed the shooting, or who may have information, including dashcam footage, are urged to contact the Met Police as soon as possible.

Police understand that there was a large group of people gathered nearby at that time and they are eager to hear what they had to say.
