A month before the IPL, Rajasthan Royals’ home ground in Jaipur was sealed by the Rajasthan Sports Council. cricket news

A month before the venue was due to host Indian Premier League matches, Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium has been sealed by the Rajasthan Sports Council, claiming the state cricket body has not fulfilled its liabilities including payment of dues. . Along with the stadium, the office of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and its academy were also sealed.

Rajasthan Sports Council Secretary Sohan Ram Chaudhary had on Friday given notice to RCA to hand over the property to the state council, but this did not happen.

Since the handover did not take place, the State Sports Council sealed the properties due to RCA’s alleged failure to fulfill its terms as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and non-payment of dues.

Choudhary told the media, “We had sent them (RCA) several notices, but there was no response from them. They only responded by extending the MOU from eight years to 10 years. They had liabilities and they paid them in full. did not do.” ,

“We have held a meeting with RCA to find a solution. They had received around Rs 200 crore but they told us that they have not received the amount. They had a lot of money during the Rajasthan Premier League but they did not follow the MOU and they The money was not deposited, so we had to take this step.

However, Choudhary assured that the venue will host IPL matches and all other sports held here.

“This is our base and we have taken it back. IPL matches will take place and all other national and international matches will also take place and the players will get all the facilities,” he said.

RCA president Vaibhav Gehlot, on his part, alleged that the move smacked of ‘political malice’ and that his organization was not given enough time to respond.

Gehlot said, “The pending dues are old, Rs 8 crore is outstanding but suddenly sealing that old case and that too before the IPL shows political malice. This should not have happened.”

He said, “We were not given full time, less than two days were given, there should not be politics in sports but politics is happening which is not right.”

Gehlot said that RCA will take advice from its lawyers as to what action it will take in this matter.

The Sawai Man Singh Stadium will host local team Rajasthan Royals’ opening match against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24.

The second match here will be between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals on March 28.

Due to the general elections, the IPL 2024 schedule was announced only for the first two weeks and 21 matches.
