Handwara, June 20, KDC: Police said on Friday that a minor girl from Kupwara, Kupwara, who had become pregnant after rape, died. The accused has been arrested after the DNA test confirmed his participation.
The case was registered on 6 May under FIR No. 17/2025 at Police Station Kalamabad, calling Section 64 of the Indian Joint Code and the relevant POCSO Act provisions.
Police said the girl was six months pregnant, pointing to abuse for a long time. He attempted suicide and was transferred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, where he later died.
An investigation confirmed the arrest of a slave resident, as the biological father of the unborn child through DNA evidence. Legal proceedings are going on. (KDC)
