Rahul Ganhi’s east-west pilgrimage begins from Manipur on January 14

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday congratulated former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his “exercise Determined,” calling him a “rare individual.”

Rahul Gandhi concluded the 63-day India Celebrations in Mumbai by paying tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar and reading out the Preamble of the Constitution at the Chaityabhoomi Memorial in central Mumbai.

In a letter to Rahul Gandhi on March 17, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said: “Today, your Bharat Chodo Nyay Yadav The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is about to end in Mumbai. Very few people are able to complete such a ‘pilgrimage’. Heartfelt congratulations to you for your strong determination.

“You started this pilgrimage from Manipur, which is burning due to the failure of the BJP government. You sent a strong message against the authoritarian government from the Northeast. Throughout the journey of the pilgrimage, you met People (from) all sections of society, including farmers, young people, women, old people, you understand their problems very well,” Akhilesh Yadav said.

The SP Chairman went on to say, “The Election Commission announced the election results yesterday. Nominations will begin in UP from March 20 and due to its preparations, I will not be able to attend the closing ceremony of the Yatra.

“Not only hopeful but absolutely convinced that the public will uproot and abandon the BJP because it is against farmers, youth, backwards, Dalits and women. The real success of Hajj will be the defeat of the BJP in these elections ,” said Akhilesh Yadav.

The former Congress president was accompanied by his sister and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday.

The pilgrimage, which started from conflict-torn Manipur on January 14, entered Mumbai from neighboring Thane on the 63rd day on Saturday.

On February 21, India Group partners Samajwadi Party and Congress announced cooperation in the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, with Uttar Pradesh’s main opposition party leaving 17 of the state’s 80 seats to its allies.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party will contest a seat in Khajuraho and support the Congress in the remaining constituencies in the state.

Among the 17 seats that the Congress will contest in UP, they include Rae Bareli and Amethi, once seen as the party’s pocket districts, and Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency.
