In an interview with NDTV, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud understands how a typical day starts for him as one of the guardians of the Constitution. For the Chief Justice of India, the day starts at 3.30 am.

“At 3.30 am, the environment is calm. I can think about things then and do yoga. I have been doing yoga for 25 years,” Chief Justice Chandrachud told New Delhi TV.

The Chief Justice said that his best friend is his wife Kalpana Das, with whom he follows an Ayurvedic diet.

“We are both vegetarians and our lifestyle is plant-based. I think everything we eat affects our brain. I think your health comes from within, from yourself, from your mind, from you of the heart. You can be as healthy as you want,” Chief Justice Chandrachud said.

“My life is no different from anyone else’s, with its ups and downs. I have seen many aspects of life just like everyone else. You should always keep hope to overcome any problem. It is important to understand that every difficulty There is a purpose.’ You won’t know it at the time, but you will know it later,” the chief justice said.

The Chief Justice also shared some tips for healthy eating. “I prefer eating ramdana instead of whole wheat food. In Maharashtra, sabudana khichid is made on fasting days, so I eat ramdana. I have been fasting every Monday for the past 25 years. Ramdana It is a must-have food item in Maharashtra,” he said. “It’s a very light food and one of the healthiest,” he added.

Does Chief Justice Chandrachud have a cheat day? “Yes,” he said. “I love eating ice cream on cheat days.”

He said: “As long as you control your mentality, half of the difficulties can be solved.”

Chief Justice Chandrachud will serve as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from November 2022 for a term of two years. His father, Chief Justice YV Chandrachud, is the longest-serving Chief Justice of India.

Chief Justice Chandrachud holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from St. Stephen’s College. He subsequently received his LLB from Delhi University and his LLM and PhD degrees from Harvard Law School in the United States.
