Kolkata, Nov 23 (IANS) Kolkata Police on Sunday arrested two people in connection with the recovery of a body from a hotel in south Kolkata’s Kasba area on November 22. The arrested persons have been identified as Dhruv Mitra and Kamal Saha.
According to police sources, the arrested people are being interrogated at Kasba police station.
On Saturday, police recovered the body of a youth named Adarsh from a hotel room in Kasba area. The young man from Birbhum lived in Kolkata for work.
Police said Adarsh checked into the hotel on Friday night. There were two more people with him. One of them was a young woman. A total of two rooms were taken. It was revealed that Adarsh was in a room.
The other two were in the other room. According to sources, Adarsh’s two companions left the hotel late on Friday night. On Saturday, Adarsh’s body was found lying in the hotel room.
However, both of them are still missing and the police have started searching for them.
According to sources, one of the two missing people lives in Kolkata, while the other youth’s house is in Nadia district.
Meanwhile, police arrested two people known to Adarsh within 24 hours of the body being recovered on Sunday.
The investigators are also trying to find out how Adarsh interacted with them. The purpose for which they had gone to the hotel is also being investigated.
Police source said that the deceased youth used to work as a delivery boy. It has been revealed that at least two of these three people had contacted each other on social media. In such a situation, questions are being raised whether Adarsh was called to the hotel for robbery or a trap was being laid in the hotel room for him.
According to sources, Adarsh was seen coming out of his room and entering his friends’ room on Friday night.
Police said that there was blood near Adarsh’s nose. His legs were tied and there were strangulation marks on his neck. Police suspect that he has been murdered. Officials are also trying to find out the motive behind the murder.
However, police said the real cause of death would be known only after receiving the autopsy report.
