An Avenal State Prison inmate already serving multiple life sentences Long Beach, California, prison for murder And attempted murder Was recently arrested after allegedly confessing to three additional cold-case murders.
Glenn Cox, 39, of Compton, was arrested Oct. 17 for three additional murders, three counts of attempted murder and two firearms charges after allegedly confessing to gang-related crimes from 2004 to 2007.

Cox is being held in prison for the murder of Jonathan Fernandez, the son of a California Highway Patrol officer, during a New Year’s party in January 2008.
In December 2023, Cox confessed to prison staff to multiple murders and attempted murder, prompting Long Beach detectives to obtain more confessions and corroborate evidence linking him to three cold-case incidents.
The events leading up to Cox’s confession include: shooting on East Pleasant Street, which killed 22-year-old Carlos Serrano and 23-year-old Jeremy Kershaw of Long Beach and injured two others.
Cox was also allegedly involved in the February 16, 2007, shooting on Cherry Avenue that killed 31-year-old Long Beach resident Dino Marks, as well as the August 26, 2007 shooting of a man riding a bike on East Pacific Coast Highway, but survived.
These cases have been referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
