The BJP won the post of president in Udgir, Ahmedpur, Nilanga and Renapur local bodies, while its grand alliance ally NCP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, won the seat in Ausa, he said.
In Udgir Municipal Council, BJP’s Swati Sachin Hooda defeated Congress candidate Khadri Anjum Fatema Syed Abdullah in the battle for the post of president.
The BJP also won the Ahmedpur seat, where Swapnil Maharudra Whyte won, defeating NCP’s Abhay Balwant Mirkale. BJP’s Pramod Sanjayraj Halgarkar emerged victorious in Nilanga, while Congress candidate Sheikh Hamid Ibrahim came second.
Similarly, in Renapur, BJP candidate Shobha Shyamrao Akangire won by defeating Congress contender Archana Pradeep Mane, officials said.
The only exception to the BJP’s dominance came in Ausa, where NCP’s Sheikh Parveen Nawabuddin won the post of president.
