Nigel Farage There is pressure to sack the former Royal Navy rear admiral who was chosen by Reform UK as its candidate for mayor of Hampshire after he doubled down on comments about “loyalty”. David Lammy and admired Enoch Powell.
Mr. Faraz stood by Chris Perry, 72He then suggested that the Deputy Prime Minister mr lamyBorn and raised in London, he must go “home” to the Caribbean where his “loyalties lie”.
But despite being widely condemned, Mr Perry has now defended his original comment, posting on Twitter: “Well, home is where the heart is. That’s the thing.”
In an additional tweet, Mr Perry also described the deceased right-wing former Tory politician Enoch Powell as “incomplete”.
In 1968 Powell gave the infamous “Rivers of Blood” speech about the impact of black immigrants in Britain, warning that this would lead to violence in the streets and opposition to anti-discrimination laws. For many the speech became standard on racism in Britain, although others claimed it was misinterpreted.
Mr Farage has also praised Powell, calling him a “political hero”.
In a separate tweet, Mr Perry also attacked Sir lenny henry Similarly, when the comedian and actor supported the call for Britain to pay 19 trillion pounds as compensation for slavery.
Mr Parry posted: “Where do his primary loyalties lie?”
In another tweet in March Mr Parry described Birmingham as “a failed colony”.
commenting on sir keir starmer Ordering an emergency Cobra meeting to deal with the Birmingham bin attacks, he posted: “Stupidly and unnecessarily downplaying the importance of Cobra. Just take this failing colony into special measures.”
Mr Parry also described four female colleagues as “harpists” and suggested Parliament would be filled with Muslim MPs by 2035.
Labor chair Anna Turley told Independent Mr Farage now needs to drop a candidate for the postponed Hampshire mayoral election in 2028.
She said: “How big has already become the mountain of racist and deeply offensive comments made by Chris Perry Nigel Farage Throws him out of recovery? this is outrageous.
“Farage’s refusal to act against racism in his own party shows the dark place he is taking politics to. He should finally remove Chris Perry as a candidate, expel him from his party and apologize for failing to act sooner.”
It comes after Mr Faraz himself faced allegations of racism while at school. The allegations included claims that he had said “Hitler was right” and had imitated the sound of a whisper from the gas chamber.
Mr Farage said he had never been racist or anti-Semitic with “malice” and at a recent press conference he lashed out at the BBC about 1970s comedian Bernard Manning when asked about the allegations.
Last week, Ian Cooper, the council leader of Reform in Staffordshire, said that “no foreign national or first generation migrant should be allowed to sit in Parliament”, in reference to Mr Lammy.
While Mr Cooper has been kicked out by Reform, Mr Parry still remains the party’s mayoral candidate in Hampshire.
Another Reform councilor Chris Large has refused to endorse a comment describing Mr Lammy as “just another greedy non-whole”.
Hitting back at earlier comments, Mr Lammy issued a personal challenge to Mr Farage: “I will never be afraid of racism. But I will call it what it is. Nigel Farage, you need to clean up your party and stamp out this 1950s-style hatred.”
