The Independent sat down with James Lovell, Santa expert and founder of the UK’s only Father Christmas School, to find out what’s involved in this important job.
Mr Lovell, who created the UK’s only real training school for professional Father Christmases in 1998, explained how important it is to have the best suit, beard and, of course, a twinkle in the eye.
Mr Lovell said: “You have to make sure that when you’re teaching, you look at every aspect of the role.”
It’s important that professional Santas not only look great, but also know the history of St. Nicholas and the names and characteristics of all the reindeer.
