“It was all really strange,” he said. “This was often the unwanted side of what I do and it’s been really interesting to see it from both sides – the perception side and my personal side.

She added, “I was never particularly interested in clothes and makeup, it was never my thing.” “I was absolutely a tomboy, I grew up with brothers, all my best mates were boys. So when it came to becoming a musician, I didn’t even yearn to be the leading man.”

Tunstall said she was “happy” to be in the spotlight during performances, but still liked the camaraderie of being in a band and felt “very frustrated” with the amount of attention she received off stage.

Ironically, when it came to promoting their second album, extremely wonderfulIn 2007, she claimed that her label wanted her to stick to the same “girl-next-door” jeans and T-shirt look as on her first album.

However, Tunstall wanted to wear “shiny dresses” and “heeled shoes”.

“Of course I did,” she joked, “but it’s ironic that most women would talk about the experience of ‘getting their breasts out’ to sell their records, and [my record label] Were like, ‘Put them away!’
