Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate
PUC certificate is an official document that certifies that the vehicle’s emissions are within the legal limits set by the government. It is mandatory for all petrol, diesel, CNG and LPG vehicles and is issued after the vehicle passes the emissions test at an authorized testing centre.
The test measures pollutants like carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides to ensure that the vehicle is not polluting the environment excessively.
Typically, valid for six months, a PUC certificate helps improve air quality and avoid legal penalties. This is a necessary compliance measure under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
