Inderpreet Singh alias Parry, a former aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was murdered soon after leaving a club in Sector 26 on December 1. He was sitting in his SUV when a shooter fired at him from close range and fled with his companions. Sources said Perry was taken to hospital but died on the way.
Police suspected mutual rivalry behind the murder.
Parry was earlier associated with the Bishnoi gang but is believed to have switched his allegiance to Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar. A resident of Sector 33, Chandigarh, he had several criminal cases registered against him in the Union Territory and Punjab, including attempt to murder, extortion, assault, rioting and offenses under the Arms Act.

His association with Bishnoi dates back to his college days, where he entered student politics through the Panjab University student organization in 2010. Both of them had to go to jail together in the past.
Soon after the murder, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility through a social media post, saying that the murder was carried out to avenge the murder of their financier in Dubai.
According to the police, the accused were absconding and wanted in several cases in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. The source said that those arrested include the perpetrators of the murder of national level Kabaddi player Sonu Nolta and bar and restaurant owner Ashu Mahajan.
