Six militants arrested for extortion in Manipur

Security forces have arrested six terrorists, including two women, associated with various banned organizations for their alleged involvement in extortion activities in Manipur, a police statement said on Sunday (December 14).

All the arrests were made on Saturday (December 13).

Two active women cadres of the United National Liberation Front (Koreng) were captured from Moirangkampu Szeb Makha Likai area of Imphal East district. They have been identified as Takhelalambam Sanathoi Chanu (19) and Kongbrilatpam Rameshori Devi (19).

Security forces arrested two active cadres of PREPAK (PRO) from Kanchipur area of Imphal West district. They have been identified as Kshetramayum Avinash Singh (21) and Rajkumar Daniel Singh (31). It said one 9 mm pistol loaded with 12 rounds and two .38 cartridges were seized from their possession.

An active cadre of UNLF (P) was caught from Lamphel Super Market in Imphal West district, while a rebel belonging to PREPAK (PRO) was arrested from his residence at Kumbi in Bishnupur district.
