Remarkably the Tigers scored the first try of the game when Leinster lost possession in the home 22 for Redwan to fly-hack the loose ball three times along the right-hand touchline before crossing.
Bayern kicked their second penalty, but on the stroke of half-time, the home team scored another try when Hassell-Collins pounced on a well-judged cross-field kick from Searle, leaving the Irish defense vulnerable.
Searle missed the conversion but Leicester led 15–6 at the break.
Within four minutes of the restart, Searle had a chance to extend that advantage but his 40-metre penalty attempt was missed.
Five minutes later, Leinster were back in contention when the home side lost control of the ball in their own 22, with Gibson-Park taking advantage of this by bypassing two weak tackles and gaining possession of the ball before scoring.
The effort was an inspiration for Leinster to trouble their opponents as they conceded successive penalties, one of which Byrne kicked to give his side a one-point lead heading into the final quarter.
That was Bayern’s final action of the night as he was replaced by Prendergast and in the nick of time a converted effort from Sheehan following a line-out drive sealed victory for the away team.
