The rally was his first public appearance after the stampede at his Karur rally on September 27, in which 41 people were killed and more than 60 were injured.
Vijay praises Puducherry
The TVK leader also praised Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy for the security provided for the rally.
“The Puducherry government led by CM Rangaswami is not like the DMK regime in Tamil Nadu,” Vijay said, according to news agency PTI. “The Puducherry government is fair as it has given security to the rival party’s rally,” he said.
The politician said it was his duty to also support the Union Territory of Puducherry while striving for unity among the people.
TVK chief Vijay attacks Centre, Tamil Nadu government
Vijay also attacked the Center and the DMK-led Tamil Nadu state government. “Only for the Centre, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are separate, we the people are together,” he said, according to PTI.
“The central government has not paid any attention to Puducherry.” According to news agency ANI, he said that the government has not fulfilled the demands of the state.

According to PTI, Vijay further said, “It would be good if the DMK regime in Tamil Nadu learns from the impartial Puducherry government. However, they will not learn now. The DMK regime will 100% learn the lessons from the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Our people will ensure this.”
One person detained with a pistol
Meanwhile, a person who was trying to enter the premises before the start of the program was detained with a pistol.
The man reportedly caused a stir when he attempted to enter the rally carrying a handgun. The officers took him into custody.
According to a police officer quoted by PTI, the man claimed to be from Sivagangai district in Tamil Nadu and said he was a private security officer who could not join his team on time.
He claimed that he had a licensed revolver.
