A Mexican National Guard Three fellow service members were shot dead at a barracks in the western Mexican state over the weekend michoacanWhere the government has deployed security forces in view of the recent high-profile murders.
A federal official confirmed the firing to The Associated Press on Monday and requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly. The shooting, which injured a fourth service member, is being investigated, the official said.
The suspect was in custody in Michoacán.
The shooting came hours after a car bomb exploded in Cohuayana, Michoacán, on Saturday, killing five people outside a local police station.

The blast and National Guard firing came as the federal government stepped up security activities by sending additional troops to the state following two recent high-profile murders.
Last month, Sheinbaum sent 2,000 troops, in addition to 4,300 permanent troops and 4,000 from neighboring states, to Michoacán after the assassination of a vocal representative of citrus growers and a popular mayor who stood up against the cartel.
