East emmerdale Actor Lewis Cope has given credit to strictly come dance Professional partner, Katya Jones, follows him to help him “fall in love with life again” Unexpected elimination from the competition on Sunday,
The couple found themselves at rock bottom strictly Leaderboard before losing the dance-off. The judges ultimately chose to save West End star Amber Davies and her professional partner, Nikita Kuzmin, sealing their place in the semi-finals.
The elimination came just a week after Cope and Jones reached the top of the leaderboard and triumphed in the first instant dance challenge of the series, marking a significant change in his fortunes.
Speaking on BBC Two it takes twoCope reflected on their journey: “We’re really just trying to focus on the positive things. It’s been an amazing 11 weeks and, sure, it’s sore and it’s going to take a while to get over it, but I’m really proud of what we’ve done.
It’s not really about dancing or anything else. You (Jones) have made me fall in love with dance, but you have also made me fall in love with life again. so thanks.”
He admitted that his family was “devastated” by the outcome, but emphasized the wider positive impact of his time on the show.
“Having four generations of them come together every Saturday and have different conversations that they’ve never had before, and showing different sides of them that I’ve never seen before, it’s been really beautiful to me,” he said.
Expressing his gratitude towards the audience: “I want to say thank you to everyone at home because without them I wouldn’t have been here for so long.”
An emotional Katya Jones described Cope as “irresistible” and expressed immense pride in his dedication.

She said, “I wouldn’t do anything different. We stayed true to ourselves and to each number.”
Jones also talked about overcoming past criticism: “A lot of times in my life I’ve been called less Katya, less. But ultimately, I needed the right dance partner to match her. We were in a tough situation. I think we were expected to deliver this almost perfect show-stopping routine every Saturday, which you did. I don’t know how, but you did it because of yourself. It’s hard, but at the same time I’m really proud. We prepared.”
He concluded by saying to Cope, “We were very lucky, the whole country, we were very lucky to see your magic because you are a one-of-a-kind person and you are made for something extraordinary.”
Amber Davis has now joined eastenders Actress Balwinder Sopal, internet star George Clarke, and former Lioness and sports broadcaster Karen Carney are the remaining semi-finalists.
The pairs will perform two new routines during next weekend’s semi-final, which will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 6.35pm on Saturday. The results show will be shown at 7.45pm on Sunday, featuring performances by Australian singer Kylie Minogue and boyband Five.
