East BBC radio 1 dj tim westwood has refused Multiple allegations of rape, indecent assault and sexual harassment,
The 68-year-old man is accused of crimes against seven 17-year-old women between 1983 and 2016, including three indecent assaults at BBC studios in the 1990s.
Westwood, of Westminster, pleaded not guilty to four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault. Southwark Crown Court on Monday morning.
A former Capital Xtra DJ is accused of raping women, kissing them and touching their bodies without consent, a court heard.
Westwood appeared in the courtroom wearing a maroon shirt and black trousers and spoke only to present his plea and confirm his name.
Westwood is accused of four indecent assaults in London in the 1980s, as well as three indecent assaults at the BBC in the 1990s.
The defendant is also accused of raping a woman in a hotel in 1996.
Westwood is also charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count of rape at a London address in the early 2000s and two counts of rape at a London address in the 2010s.
He is also accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub in Stroud, Gloucestershire in 2010.
Westwood pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
A provisional trial date of 25 January 2027 was set by the court.
He was granted bail on the condition of not contacting the complainants.
The BBC board had earlier apologized after a review, which said the corporation “did not take adequate action” after learning of concerns about the hip hop DJ’s alleged behaviour.
Westwood left her show on Capital Xtra in April 2022 and left Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra in 2013 after almost 20 years at the BBC. She also presented the MTV UK car makeover show pimp my ride ukWhich ran for three seasons from 2005 to 2007.
Westwood is the son of Bill Westwood, the former Anglican Bishop of Peterborough, who died in the 1990s.
