Arsenal vs Brentford live: results and reaction from the Premier League

Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka were on target as Arsenal continued to take the lead in the Premier League title race with a routine 2-0 win over Brentford.

There was none of the chaos of Manchester City’s 5-4 win at Fulham 24 hours earlier, which temporarily moved them to within two points of the Gunners.

Instead it was business as usual at the Emirates, with Arsenal claiming an eighth consecutive home win, another clean sheet to extend their unbeaten run to 18 matches in all competitions and extend the gap at the top to five points.

The main concern for the Gunners was that centre-back Cristian Mosquera was forced off injured, adding to the defensive crisis, with William Saliba and Gabriel also sidelined. But they can once again celebrate moving five points clear at the top of the table.

Ben White impressed at right-back for Arsenal this evening as he discusses the win sky sports after the match.

“It was a good win,” he said. “I haven’t played too many games this season because the boys have been unbelievable.

“We are supporting everyone, no matter who is playing or who is not playing. We are sticking together and will perform as well as we possibly can when we get the chance.”

“Training every day with all these players is incredible. There are players who are not getting a single minute who would start for another team.

“We’ve just got to take it game by game. It’s such a long season, we don’t want to get complacent. We’ll just keep doing what we’re doing.”

Marino passed a beautiful ball Bukayo Saka. He cuts inside his defender and hits the shot. Kelleher gets a hand to it but can only slow it down as it loops over him and he moves back but the ball crosses the line before it can be cleared. A bit unlucky for Kelleher but Saka seals it!

That was the moment for Arsenal. Calafiori cut infield, made it to the edge of the box and attacked on goal, where Kelleher dived and pushed the ball out.

But it’s straight to Saka, eight yards out, tries to turn it with his left foot but he’s falling backwards and the ball goes wide. should be 2-0
