watch live as sir keir starmer rescue Rachel Reeves He has been heavily criticized after last week Budget,
The Chancellor has been accused of misleading the public by lying about the economic forecasts he received to justify his £26bn tax rise.
Speaking on Monday (December 1), Sir Keir will argue that Ms Reeves has provided stability by raising billions of pounds to create more “headroom” in the economy.
It has come to light that before his speech the Office for Budget The Office for Responsibility (OBR) told him that the public’s financial position had improved significantly and that instead of a deficit, they had a surplus of £4.2 billion.
Ms Reeves has denied that she lied to the public and the markets.
The Prime Minister is also expected to discuss welfare reforms and claim that the welfare state is “not only trapping people in poverty, but also putting them out of work”.
He will say that the “incentives” that prevent young people from working should be eliminated because they are costing the country millions and reducing productivity.
Sir Keir would say, “We must reform the welfare state itself – that is what renewal demands.” “Now, it’s not about maintaining the broken status quo. No, it’s about capacity.”
