A woman has been accused animal cruelty after a poodle It was found dumped in a plastic bag in the backyard of a California veterinary hospital.

Tyler Nashawe Thompson was allegedly caught on camera tossing the dog over an 8-foot fence in Anaheim on November 12 at approximately 1:37 a.m.

Thompson is now facing up to three years in prison after he was charged with one felony count of felony animal cruelty, one felony count of felony animal abuse by a caretaker, and a misdemeanor count of concealing or destroying evidence.

The poodle was extremely malnourished, infested with fleas and was missing a tooth, the Orange County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

Thompson was identified by Anaheim detectives through surveillance video, and he was arrested on a $50,000 arrest warrant on Wednesday, November 27. He is currently being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, December 1.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said, “This poor dog suffered unimaginable suffering at the hands of someone who was supposed to care for him. Only truly evil people would decide to abuse an animal that had no way of defending itself and then throw it away like a piece of trash.”

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michael Chai of the Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit.
