Nitish took oath: On Thursday, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the tenth time at Gandhi Maidan. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath to Kumar and 21 ministers. Kumar took oath on the Constitution of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and other NDA leaders attended the ceremony. (PTI photo)

Cabinet Line-up: Former Deputy Chief Ministers BJP leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha took oath as ministers. Legislative Council members Ashok Chaudhary, Dilip Jaiswal and Santosh Kumar Suman also joined the cabinet. Shreyasi Singh entered as the new minister. Parties not included: No ministers were inducted from Chirag Paswan’s LJP (RV), which won 19 seats, or Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM, which won four seats. In the outgoing government, the BJP had 15 ministers, JD(U) had 12 including Nitish Kumar, HAM(S) had one minister, and one minister was an independent. Nitish’s profile: Kumar, 71, is an MLC who did not contest the assembly elections. He is one of the country’s longest serving Chief Ministers with a tenure of 19 years. His political overtures earned him the nickname “Paltu Ram”, while he is also known as “Sushasan Babu”. His return as Chief Minister marks his tenth term, a record in the political history of Bihar. NDA Election Result: In the recent assembly elections, NDA won 202 out of 243 seats. BJP won 89 seats, JDU 85, LJP (RV) 19, HAM 5 and RLM 4 seats. Modi posted on Twitter: “My hearty congratulations to all the colleagues who took oath… My best wishes to them all!” His influence was seen to be central to the alliance’s performance in the state. Reaction of Odisha leaders: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the ceremony along with Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Parvati Parida. Majhi wrote on X that Kumar’s “record of public service remains inspiring.” Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik congratulated Kumar and wished him “new heights of development”. NDA message issued: Describing this moment as historic, KV Singh Dev congratulated Nitish Kumar, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
