Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday praised the significant contribution of former Union Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to the society on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary.
The Chief Minister also flagged off ‘Ekta March’ in Indore and participated in the program.
After paying floral tributes at Patel’s statue near Khajrana temple in Indore, CM Yadav participated in a road show.
He was joined by senior BJP leader and state urban affairs minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and water minister Tulsiram Silawat and others.
CM Yadav remembered Patel for his contribution in making India strong and united.
“The ‘Iron Man’ worked selflessly for the people of the country till his last breath. Patel faced many challenges but never gave up and laid a strong foundation for the country,” the Chief Minister said.
He said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel played an important role in future-proofing all our administrative services, including IAS, IPS and UPSC. He faced many challenges. However, with his great personality and intelligence, he laid a strong foundation for the country. We are proud of him and the entire nation remembers his contribution.”
During his address, CM Yadav also hit out at the previous Congress governments for “not respecting” any veteran leader.
He further said that “During the Congress rule, only Jawaharlal Nehru and his family were glorified and all the legendary leaders who fought for the country were ignored, whom the people of India will never forget. We are proud of Sardar Patel, who always put India first.”
Later, the Chief Minister also took part in the plantation drive at Khajrana Temple under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
He flagged off the ‘Ekta March’, which reached Indore from neighboring Maharashtra and will now go to Gujarat.
