Patna, November 25 (IANS) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar suddenly inspected Patna’s Mandiri drain on Tuesday, which left the officials in a tizzy.
He was accompanied by Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, Patna District Magistrate Thyagarajan SM, Divisional Commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh and many senior officials.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over the slow pace of the Mandiri Nala project.
Questioning the officials directly, he said, “I have visited this site several times. Why has the work not been completed yet? You were present here last time also. Complete the work as soon as possible.”
Nitish Kumar inspected the entire stretch and reviewed the progress of the project in detail.
He gave clear instructions to expedite all the pending works and complete them within the stipulated time-frame.
The Chief Minister has been making regular field visits since the formation of the new government, which reflects his strict stance against delays in development projects.
Nitish Kumar also inspected the construction work of Rajiv Nagar underground drainage system.
Directing the officials to expedite the work, he said that once the project is completed, waterlogging in the area will reduce significantly.
The two-lane road being built over the drain will streamline traffic and give the city a cleaner, more organized look.
Later the Chief Minister reviewed several ongoing projects in the urban area of Patna.
He inspected the construction of underground drain and four lane road along the Serpentine Drain from Patel Golambar to the western end of Eco Park and from the eastern end of Eco Park to Atal Path.
The officials told him that the project involved paving the drain and building a road over it.
The Chief Minister stressed on expeditious completion of both drain repair work and road construction to ensure better public transport flow and improved urban infrastructure.
Nitish Kumar reiterated that timely completion of these urban development projects is necessary to solve the problem of water logging and to increase the road network of Patna.
