Ayodhya, Nov 25 (IANS) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said at the Ram temple flag hoisting ceremony here on Tuesday that the occasion marks the culmination of centuries of struggle, sacrifice and devotion of saints, workers and countless devotees.
He said that the souls of those who dedicated their lives to the Ram Mandir movement, including Ashok Singhal, Saint Paramhans Chandra Das and industrialist Vijay Sankeshwar Dalmia, would have rested in peace today.
“The construction of the temple has been completed, and the flag of Ram Rajya – which once fluttered over Ayodhya and illuminated the world – has risen high again before our eyes,” he said.
Bhagwat explained the symbolism of the orchid tree (Covidar-Bauhinia purpurea), which is depicted as the symbol of Raghukul on the Ram Rajya flag. The tree, he said, is a symbol of sacrifice, well-being and generosity – “standing in the sun itself and providing shade, fruits and happiness to others. This has been the basis of Raghukul’s strength and philosophy of life.”
The RSS chief said the work of building an India that will shadow the world has now begun, stressing that one must work with determination even in adverse circumstances.
He said that resolution is fulfilled by Sattva (inner purity and strength). He said, “Seven horses and reins move a chariot, but without a rope and a charioteer it cannot move. Yet the Sun moves continuously from east to west. This is the power of Sattva. Hindu society has demonstrated this Sattva for 550 years, and today Ram Lalla is enshrined in a grand temple. This is not just a structure, but a triumph of patience, fortitude and unwavering faith.”
“This is a day to renew our resolve. The world expects us to build an India that brings happiness and peace to all. It is our duty to accelerate this work in the name of Ram Lalla.”
As the religious flag was hoisted atop the Shri Ram temple, major roads of the city including Dharampath echoed with slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”, while thousands of people gathered at Lata Mangeshkar Chowk to watch the live telecast of the ceremony.
As soon as Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the flag, the crowd started raising emotional slogans. Devotees flocked to Ayodhya from neighboring districts such as Sultanpur, Basti, Ambedkar Nagar and Barabanki as well as from across North India.
